Hello all,
This past month, we launched the International Coalition Against Modern Slavery’s international hotline and resource database, featuring human trafficking hotlines, resources and services for survivors, healthcare/housing services, workers' rights support, and other resources related to trafficking, forced labor, and intersecting issues. This will serve as an ongoing project, where partners can submit new resources and changes via the form on our website.
In addition, we’ve released several free educational resources on our website, including guides on identifying exploitation and common myths about human trafficking.
Yesterday, we hosted a coalition-wide conference for members to share updates from our different regions and discuss strategies for how our movement can best move forward. We were joined by partners calling in from Ghana, Kenya, New Zealand, the United States, Sri Lanka, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nepal, and more.
Thanks to the efforts of our members, we’ve compiled a list of resources that may be helpful, ways to support one another, and relevant opportunities:
The Center on Human Trafficking Research and Outreach at UGA is currently seeking those with lived experience of trafficking and/or gender-based violence to facilitate focus groups in Cambodia, the Phillippines, India, Thailand, and Albania. You can find more information about this paid opportunity at tinyurl.com/y3zd6cea.
Funding opportunity: The Bayer Foundation Women Entrepreneurs will be awarding €25,000 in funding, a six-month accelerator program, and access to a global network to 15 women-led enterprises from Asia Pacific, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East that are developing sustainable solutions in health or food security. You can learn more here https://bayerfoundation-wea.com/.
One of our members is leading a webinar centered around navigating the ongoing funding crisis on February 4th at 10:00 AM EST/6PM EAT/8:45PM NPT. You can register for the call at https://tinyurl.com/2p3ybynn.
Finally, our partners who represent a tea plantation community in rural Sri Lanka have been able to begin construction to expand a local school. The research they’ve conducted has shown that expanding education access is a key part of reducing forced labor, other forms of labor exploitation, and sexual abuse in their community. They have currently raised 635 USD and are hoping to raise 9465 USD more as soon as possible. Parents of children are also coming together to help with school construction, and they have sent us photos to share with the coalition. Contribute here: https://gofund.me/3d96f48a.
