• Envisioning a world free from forced labor and human trafficking by empowering a network of advocates from around the world

  • About the Coalition

The International Coalition Against Modern Slavery was started in 2021. Since then, it has grown with participation across 38 countries. The coalition shares resources for learning more about modern slavery and ways individuals can take action.

  • Defining 'modern slavery'

    1

    Modern Slavery

Extreme situations of exploitation – including the use of human trafficking, forced labor, forced sexual exploitation, forced marriage, forced begging, and/or debt bondage – that a person cannot refuse or leave because of threats, violence, coercion, deception, and/or abuse of power.

    2

How does the Coalition use the term 'Modern Slavery'.

We use internationally recognized terms such as ‘modern slavery’ and ‘human trafficking’ to denote the most extreme forms of exploitation, emphasizing how human rights abuses continue to fuel our global economy.

  • What we do

    Understand the Issue

Despite having an estimated 40.3 million victims around the world, modern slavery is hardly discussed or understood by many. Through sharing resources and articles, we can foster education about the issue - because there is no effective advocacy that is not rooted in knowledge and understanding.

    Take Action

By mobilizing people across continents, backgrounds, and age groups, we can make a difference. Even small actions such as contacting local or national policymakers, educating those around you about forced labor and human trafficking, and making more informed purchases, can go a long way.

    Come Together in solidarity

Through previous campaigns, such as the International Day of Awareness ahead of the 76th UN convention and Week of Action, members the International Coalition Against Modern Slavery have come together to call for justice.
